Comedians help Wego Drama students fund trip

Some of Chicago's top stand-up comedians will help students of West Chicago Community High School raise money for their trip next summer to perform at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in Scotland.

The show will begin at 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 5, in the school auditorium, 326 Joliet St., and adults and high school students are welcome.

Tickets, $20, can be bought online at wegotheatre.com or at the door.

Comedians scheduled to perform include Mike Toomey from the WGN-TV "Morning News;" Pat McGann, who twice has appeared on the David Letterman show and created and hosted the "Chicago Stand-up Project" for WTTW-TV; Patti Vasquez, who hosts a nightly show on WGN radio and appeared on "My Life Is a Joke" on the Oprah Winfrey Network and "The Very Funny Show" on TBS; Jim Flannigan, who has been seen on NBC's "Last Comic Standing" and Comedy Central; and Eddie Brill, a former warm-up comedian and talent booker for the Letterman show. Additional performers may be added.

The Edinburgh Fringe Festival is the largest and most prestigious arts festival in the world. It will celebrate its 70th anniversary next summer.
