Motorcyclist suffers head injury in collision near Lake Villa

A 25-year-old motorcycle driver suffered a serious head injury when he collided with a van Tuesday afternoon at Route 45 and Rollins Road near Lake Villa, according to the Lake County sheriff's office.

The Yamaha motorcycle was southbound on Route 45 and entered the intersection of Rollins Road on a green light about 3:15 p.m., according to a news release. A northbound Ford van driven by an 18-year-old man turned left in front of motorcycle, causing the collision, the sheriff's office said.

The driver of the Yamaha, who was wearing his helmet, was thrown from the motorcycle. He was taken to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville. The driver of the van was not injured.

The crash remains under investigation by the sheriff's office.
