Taste of the Town celebrates Wheeling, Prospect Heights businesses

Hundreds of people tasted their way through the Wheeling and Prospect Heights Chamber of Commerce Taste of the Town Wednesday evening at the Westin Chicago North Shore.

The Westin played host to more than 20 local restaurants and sponsors for on-site food tastings and beverage selections.

In addition to celebrating with a Healthy Harvest theme for the night, attendees saw live cooking demonstrations and had the chance to participate in a silent auction and raffle drawings.

Wheeling Village President Dean Argiris says the chamber of commerce does a great job in ramping up residents' excitement for the event.

"It's a great place for restaurants to showcase what they do," Argiris said. "It also brings all the elected officials together and gives them a chance to meet with business owners at the Westin."

A portion of proceeds from ticket sales support the Korean Cultural Center of Chicago and the Wheeling Township Food Pantry that serves more than 400 low-income families each month.

Attendees were encouraged to bring in nonperishable canned goods.
