Youth of the Month named in Round Lake area
Round Lake Area Exchange Club has launched a youth of the month program as part of a recognition initiative. According to the National Exchange Club, the award is one of the group's most popular programs and recognizes hardworking high school students who attain notable scholastic achievement, community involvement and leadership. Local officials said Round Lake High School senior Katie Carranza was named October Youth of the Month. She has a 3.9 grade-point average and is enrolled in almost all honors and advanced placement courses. She also is involved in school activities, including theater, secretary of Tri-M Music Honor Society, National Honor Society and student council.
