Cause of Lake Villa house fire under investigation

The cause of a house fire on the 500 block of Forest View Road in Lake Villa remained under investigation Tuesday night, Lake Villa police Cmdr. Mike Rutkowski said.

Firefighters were dispatched to the house at 3:49 p.m., and the fire was under control at 4:07 p.m., Rutkowski said.

While the son of the homeowner was originally thought to be trapped inside the house, it was later determined he had gone to a friend's house.

There were no injuries reported.

The fire was mostly contained to the kitchen, Rutkowski said.

Authorities have not yet determined the extent of the damage.

Rutkowski said the Round Lake and Fox Lake fire departments helped staff the Lake Villa fire station while firefighters were on the scene.
