Firefighters learn latest in extrication at Hoffman Estates training

Staying on top of the changes in vehicles and the tools available to cut people out of them when necessary was the focus Wednesday of a training session in Hoffman Estates.

The event was hosted by I-CAR, the Inter-Industry Conference on Auto Collision Repair, in collaboration with the National Auto Body Council.

Emergency responders practiced using the latest tools on late-model vehicles.

"Ongoing advancements in vehicle technology require current training and knowledge on where and how to efficiently cut vehicles, which can help save lives and contribute to the safety of first responders," an I-CAR news release said.
