Flood Brothers named an Illinois Family Business of the Year

CHICAGO - Flood Brothers Disposal and Recycling of Oakbrook Terrace was recently honored in the 22nd Annual Illinois Family Business of the Year Awards from the Family Business Center at Loyola University Chicago's Quinlan School of Business.

The award recognizes Illinois-based family businesses that demonstrate a strong commitment to business development, family, and the greater-Illinois community. Flood Brothers was named the winner in the Medium Business Category.

"We're honored to receive this award. It's a tribute to the strong legacy and values bestowed by those before us," said Brian Flood of Flood Brothers. "It all comes down to service. We strive to provide the best service to our customers and our community. And we believe in giving back and helping those in need. It's simply in our DNA. We trust this family tradition will continue for many generations to come."

Starting with one truck, one employee and one simple philosophy, "Provide a great service at a fair price," the Flood family has been in the waste removal industry in one form or another since 1930. Eighty-Five years and five generations later, the family-owned and operated waste removal company has updated its trucks and technologies, and expanded its scope of operations, all the while, remaining committed to the simple concept. They still believe in honest, responsive, hard work and its employees practice those tenets every day.

"The Illinois Family Business of the Year Awards program gives us the opportunity to celebrate the incredible contributions of family business to our communities and our economy," said Andrew Keyt, executive director of the Loyola Family Business Center. "We are pleased to honor these dedicated families and their businesses as part of the Family Business Center's 25th anniversary celebrations."

Winners in the other categories were: Small Family Business of the Year, Carl Becker & Son Ltd.; Large Family Business of the Year, O'Neil Industries Inc.; Community Service Award, Mariani Enterprises; Dean's Award, Dot Foods Inc.; and Century Award, Matot Inc.

An awards gala honoring the 2015 Illinois Family Business of the Year winners and finalists will be held Nov. 19 at the Four Seasons Hotel Chicago.
