Car crashes through Schaumburg garage, into living room

Schaumburg police are searching for a driver of a car that slammed through a home's garage and into its living room early Sunday morning, authorities said.

The driver fled the scene on foot after the crash at 3:20 a.m. in the 1000 block of South Springinsguth Road, police Cmdr. Dave Wermes said Monday.

The car, a 2013 Nissan Sentra, was traveling southbound on Springinsguth when its driver lost control, sending the vehicle through a fence and into the side of the home's garage before it plunged into the residence itself. Residents were home at the time of the crash, but no one was injured, Wermes said.

"Nobody saw anything, they just heard the crash," he added.

Police are working to track down the driver through the vehicle and its license plate, Wermes said.
