Shelter, Inc. Thrift Shop expands wish list

The Shelter, Inc. Thrift Shop, located in Schaumburg for 33 years, is broadening its innovative Wish List program by seeking to match donations and requests from residents throughout the Northwest suburbs.

The thrift shop introduced the Wish List in February. Customers fill out a form requesting specific items and the shop then seeks out items that match these wishes. The lists are now being posted on the site's webpage and donations of these items are being requested from residents in all outlying suburban areas.

Wishes have included a variety of items, including everything from antique razors to designer clothes. Shop manager Patricia Cinquini said, "It's amazing how often a requested item pops up, though some are more elusive. We want to match as many requests and donations as possible."

To meet the increasing number of requests, they are continually broadening their search. Wish requests can be submitted to the website, shelter-inc.org; at the Thrift Shop, 622 S. Roselle Road, Schaumburg; by phone, (847) 534-0276; or by email shelterincthirftshop@gmail.com. All proceeds from the Thrift Shop benefit Shelter, Inc.

Shelter, Inc. is a nonprofit child welfare agency that protects abused and neglected children and adolescents by providing foster care, emergency and longer-term group home services in a safe and caring environment.

Healthy Families Program provides home visits to first-time parents emphasizing children's well-being and positive parenting. Increased public awareness concerning child abuse, neglect and other social problems directly impacting children and their families is accomplished through their Community Education program.
