Pols want to cut pay, phase out unions

Being a retired union carpenter, I was able to send my three daughters to college. My wife was a stay-at-home mom until that time.

We helped as much as we could because of fair wages provided by unions and the girls also worked summers. With union wages and our daughters' help, they all went to college and came out without owing on any loans, unlike most middle class children today.

I think going to college has made them better citizens but there are some in political life who want to cut wages and benefits and phase out unions and keep our children out of the middle class.

No loans and no money owed.
