Naperville woman identified as pedestrian killed in Wheaton crash

Police have identified a 60-year-old woman who died after being hit by a car last Wednesday at a busy Wheaton intersection.

Authorities said Pamela S. Spletter of Naperville was struck by a 2014 Mercedes-Benz station wagon shortly before 8 p.m. at Butterfield and Naperville roads.

The station wagon was going east on Butterfield Road, police said. As the driver approached the east side of the intersection, he saw Spletter, who was wearing dark clothing, in the road in front of him. The driver attempted to avoid her, but she was hit by the front passenger side of the vehicle.

The driver immediately stopped. Spletter was pronounced dead at the scene at 8:20 p.m., according to the coroner's office.

Police say the crash is still under investigation. It has not been determined if any citations will be issued.
