The teachers strike at Prospect Heights Elementary District 23 has canceled classes for a second day, and no new negotiating sessions are scheduled, meaning that Friday classes could also be in jeopardy. Services to be held Saturday for McHenry County deputy
A public visitation, service and procession will be held Saturday to honor the life of McHenry County Sheriff's Deputy Dwight Maness. The 47-year-old McHenry man died of a blood clot Monday after he was stricken with cardiac arrest during a rehabilitation session. His death came nearly a year after he was shot in the line of duty. A 23-year-old Aurora man was found not guilty Wednesday of drug-induced homicide in the heroin overdose death of an Oregon woman at an Aurora hotel in 2012. John R. Chappell faced six to 30 years in prison if convicted. Full story.
