Break-in closes Batavia's Holy Cross Catholic School

School was canceled Thursday at Holy Cross Catholic School in Batavia after parish officials discovered a break-in earlier in the morning.

Deacon Larry Motycka, the parish administrator, said the principal and vice principal discovered the break-in about 7 a.m.

Motycka said vandals broke windows and poked holes in the wall in the school and parish offices. He said nothing was stolen and other areas of the building at 2300 Main St. were left untouched. There was no damage estimate immediately available.

Motycka said police searched the building as part of their investigation, and parish officials didn't want students in the building during that time. He said school will reopen Friday.
