Abortion restriction proposal is 'pro-human'

In a recent Daily Herald opinion article, is was stated, "It's also true that most people who kill other people do it with guns."

Statistics beg to differ. Annual gun-related fatalities in the U.S. in 2013 were 33,000. Annual fatalities due to abortions average between 750,000 and a million.

A recent private investigation by the Center for Medical Progress into Planned Parenthood revealed alleged trafficking of human fetal body parts, which is now being formally investigated by at least a half-dozen states, and the Obama administration.

This all points to the notion that body parts "are real" within the womb and can be harvested for sale. Therefore, consider moving from the traditional hard-line popular position of being either pro-choice or pro-life, and consider taking a truly humanitarian position of being "pro-human."

When body parts are being harvested, they are sought because they are near complete, have a functioning nervous system, and therefore can and do experience pain.

U.S. Rep. Trent Franks, an Arizona Republican, recently sponsored HR36, the Pain-Capable-Unborn Child Protection Act, which passed in the House 242-184.

The resolution would prohibit physicians from performing an abortion after 20 weeks, with certain exclusions.

HR36 has now moved into the Senate Judiciary Committee. Ask your U.S. senator and your fellow human being if they will support legislation that is in the most profound sense "pro-human."
