Palatine to honor 9/11 victims in ceremony

Palatine will honor those who lost their lives in the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001, in a ceremony Friday at the Palatine Firefighters Memorial, at the corner of North Brockway and West Slade streets in the village's downtown Palatine.

Palatine Fire Department members and retirees will march to the memorial from the fire station at 39 E. Colfax St. Joining them will be honor guards from the Palatine fire and the police departments.

During the ceremony, firefighters and police officers will lower the flag, place a wreath at the memorial and ring the bell to signify the first responders' last call of duty.

The half-hour ceremony will begin at 9 a.m.
