Man injured in Fox River taken to hospital by Flight for Life

A man injured in the Fox River Sunday was taken to the hospital by a Flight for Life helicopter, Fox River Grove officials said.

At 3 p.m., fire officials responded to the 500 block of Birch Lane, near Picnic Grove Park in Fox River Grove, where a man in his mid-20s had been injured, said Deputy Fire Chief Jim Kreher.

Police Sgt. Eric Waitrovich said bystanders told officials the man sustained his injuries after he fell off a boat that was anchored in the Fox River.

When officials arrived, the man had already been brought to shore, Kreher said. He had been with several friends at the time of the accident, he added.

Flight for Life took the victim to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, Kreher said. The victim's condition was not immediately available Sunday.
