Buffalo Grove Rotary names 2015 scholarship winner

Anna Klipstein, a recent graduate of Buffalo Grove High School, is the recipient of the Rotary Club of Buffalo Grove 2015 Academic Scholarship Award in the amount of $1,000, the club announced Tuesday.

The club awards a deserving high school student an academic scholarship each year for outstanding academic achievement and service.

Klipstein was chosen for this year's scholarship for demonstrating high personal character and responsibility, high academic achievement with an overall grade-point average of 5.37, for serving as a tutor in the Literacy Lab, and for participating in tennis, track and badminton for four years, according to the club. She's also a member of the National Honor Society and Spanish Honor Society, as well as a swim and tennis instructor.

The club presented her with the award check at its regular lunch meeting Aug. 13. Her parents, Robert and Kim Klipstein, her two sisters, Sarah and Emily, and her grandfather, Allan Klipstein, all attended the luncheon in her honor.

"Selecting Anna for the Rotary Club's Academic Scholarship Award was a very easy decision," said Aaron Appell, president of the Rotary Club of Buffalo Grove. "Anna's positive attitude, strong work ethic, and intrinsic motivation have all contributed to her academic and personal success."
