Carbon tax would just be passe on
On Aug. 21, Deni Matthews wrote about putting a price on cabon-based fuels. She cited a firm called Regional Economics Models Inc. They are nothing but a pie-in-the-sky firm that tells you what might, and I emphasize might, happen if certain things are done.
I don't know what planet Deni Matthews lives on but our government has never given money back to its citizens unless you overpaid your taxes, and then they don't pay you any interest.
No corporation has ever absorbed a tax. They pass it on to consumers, which would increase our cost of living.
This monthly dividend, if it occurs, would be taxed as unearned income at your going tax rate.
I wonder if these scientists that are talking about global warming are the same ones from the late '70s and early '80s that said we were headed for a new Ice Age.
