Boomers swept by Florence

The Schaumburg Boomers dropped a 5-0 decision on Sunday to the Florence Freedom, who swept the weekend series.

Florence grabbed a 2-0 lead in the top of the second inning on a 2-run homer from Andrew Godbold. The Freedom outscored the Boomers 12-0 in the first two innings of the series. Florence starter Jeremy Gooding retired the first six batters to come to the plate before a TJ Bennett single in the third. Gooding then retired the next 10 before a single from Cam Sherrer. Schaumburg managed just 3 hits in the game. Evan Boyd suffered the loss in his second spot start of the week, allowing 3 runs in five innings of work.
