Hypocritical claims on state's attorney
Here's the pot calling the kettle black: Sheriff Curran wants to run for the Lake County state's attorney because, according to a news release, "Lake County's law enforcement agencies are held financially liable for wrongful convictions because the state's attorney's office has immunity -- this is an ongoing concern for the county, municipalities and ultimately taxpayers."
Curran fails to mention that it was his office and under his leadership that my brother -- who committed no crime -- was arrested and jailed for 40 days.
In fact, Lake County never had jurisdiction, but that didn't stop Curran's department from entering McHenry County to unlawfully arrest my brother and hold him until our family had to pay out nearly $40,000 cash in two months.
I personally fought against this injustice and successfully got the case against my brother dismissed before Curran could give the nationally disgraced former Lake County State's Attorney Michael J. Waller another wrongful conviction. Now Curran wants to blame the new state's attorney for the old leadership of that office as his platform to "make change."
