Police: Woman robbed at gunpoint at Elgin bank
A woman was robbed at gunpoint by an ATM at the Chase bank in Elgin Wednesday night, authorities said Thursday.
Police were called to the 1600 block of Larkin Ave., about 10:30 p.m. Wednesday. The woman told officers she had pulled up to the ATM at the Chase bank when an unknown male pointed a gun at her and demanded her ATM card, police said.
The man then removed money from the woman's account, police said.
She was not injured and was able to flee the area to call police.
The man is described as black, early 20s, approximately 5 feet 7 inches tall with a thin build, police said. The woman told police that he was wearing a dark gray or black zip-up hoodie and that he appeared to have the hood pulled up covering his head. She told police his face was covered up, possibly with a bandanna, and that he was wearing gloves.
