Oktoberfest in August is being celebrated this weekend at The Schwaben Center, 301 N. Weiland Road, in Buffalo Grove.

The festival, which began Friday and continues from 1 to 9 p.m. Sunday, is in its 138th year. The festival, which is put on by Schwaben Verein of Chicago, a social and charitable club, includes traditional German food and drink, a variety of live traditional and contemporary German music and dancing, and activities for the kids.

Admission is $10; ages 11 and younger are free. Parking is free. For information, visit OktoberfestInAugust.com.

The social club was founded in Chicago in 1878 by people from Württemberg, Germany, and the festival is in recognition of Germany's second-largest harvest festival in the Swabian capital of Stuttgart.
