Free sweet corn at Island Lake Lions' 57th annual fest

This year marks the Island Lake Lions Club's 57th annual Cornfest.

The festivities are planned for noon to 6 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 16. The event takes place at Water Tower Park, 6301 N. Lydell Ave., Island Lake.

Food and refreshments will be available to festivalgoers, including free sweet corn. Each year the event gives away over 3,000 ears of corn.

Planned festivities include a hole-in-one golf contest. Raffles will be held, including an hourly 50/50 raffle. Games for the kids will be available, along with other activities.

Live entertainment will include a mix of blues and classic rock, with performances by Wildwood Drive, Blind Spot and the Bayview Beach Blues Band.

Admission to the event is free.
