Streamwood police looking for robber who impersonated a cop
The Streamwood Police Department is investigating a robbery near Schaumburg Road and Route 59 in which a police impersonator pulled over a woman driving down a side street and took money from her purse.
The woman was driving down Ascot Lane last Thursday when what she described as an unmarked dark Ford with a red and blue light bar on its dashboard stopped her, police said.
The robber, described as a Hispanic man in his 20s with a large build and dressed in navy blue, identified himself as a Streamwood police officer. The woman says the robber ordered her out of the car and took her purse.
Anyone with information should call the Streamwood Police Department.
