Mount Prospect creates local business awards

The Mount Prospect Economic Development Commission has created a new way to honor local businesses - the EDC Entrepreneurial Business Awards. Nominations will be taken until Aug. 31. Three awards will be given: the Budding Business Award, for businesses open fewer than five years; the Enduring Business Award, for businesses open at least five years and the Entrepreneurial Businessperson of the Year Award, honoring an individual business owner demonstrating exceptional civic and professional leadership. "The key purpose of these awards is to recognize and foster the healthy entrepreneurial climate we are witnessing in the village," said Mayor Arlene A. Juracek. Businesses must have a physical presence in Mount Prospect; the winners will have an established record of professional success and be representative of the village's strong commercial and industrial base. Nomination forms are at www.mountprospect.org/biz or at the Community Development Department at Village Hall, 50 S. Emerson St. Winners will be honored at the EDC Business Breakfast on Oct. 15.
