Sports writers allowed back in Wrigley

Police swept through Wrigley Field with dogs Sunday after officials ordered everyone to leave the iconic ballpark, but writers were allowed back in the press box around 7 p.m.

Chicago police officers received a telephone threat, said officer Nicole Trainor, a police spokeswoman. She declined to provide any additional details.

A statement from the Chicago Cubs said officials received a bomb threat and “took swift action” to evacuate those who remained in the ballpark.

“After a thorough search by law enforcement, no evidence was found to suggest this threat was credible,” the statement said.

Cubs officials said they are working with police to pursue the person who initiated the threat.

Security told the media to leave the press box right after the Cubs' 2-0 victory over the Giants but declined to provide a reason.

Police were seen going through the ballpark on Sunday. Authorities also redirected traffic away from a street that runs behind Wrigley.
