Household chemical collections
The Solid Waste Agency of Lake County has scheduled free household hazardous waste collections for Aug. 8, 15 and 24, at its facility, 1311 N. Estes St., Gurnee. Appointments are required to ensure safety and efficiency. Collections are for residential waste only. Business waste will not be accepted. Accepted items include CFL bulbs, unwanted prescription, over-the-counter medicines and supplements (people and pet), household cleaners, gasoline, garden chemicals, pesticides, oil-based paints and varnishes, as well as other household chemicals.
