Motorcyclist in critical condition after Ingleside crash

A motorcyclist is in critical condition following a crash with an SUV Saturday on Route 59 in Ingleside, authorities said Sunday.

According to Lake County Sheriff's police, the motorcyclist was driving a 1985 Santee custom motorcycle eastbound on Route 59 approaching North Wilson Road and a westbound 2002 Jeep Liberty turned left at the intersection and struck the bike.

The driver of the motorcycle, who was not wearing a helmet, was ejected from the vehicle, sheriff's police said. The driver, whose identity was not released by police, was taken by ambulance to Advocate Condell Hospital in Libertyville, where the person is listed in critical but stable condition.

The driver of the Jeep was taken to Centegra Northern Illinois Medical Center in McHenry with minor injuries and has since been discharged, police said.

The Lake County Sheriff's Technical Crash Investigations Unit continues to investigate the crash.
