Wet, wild fun await at Lake Villa Days

The Lake Villa Firefighters Association will make a splash in the community this weekend with its presentation of Lake Villa Days - an annual festival that features water fights by firefighters from Lake, McHenry, and Kenosha counties.

This is the 82nd year the association will present Lake Villa Days. The money raised from activities in the festival will go toward educational resources for firefighters, the maintenance of current property and equipment, and other organizations.

"We give quite a bit back to the community," said Greg Philips, president of the association.

The festival will run Thursday, Aug. 6, to Sunday, Aug. 9, at Lehmann Park, 148 Cedar Ave. The weekend's schedule includes food, carnival rides, and the bands Bella Cain and Modern Day Romeos.

The firefighters' water fights will take place Saturday, Aug. 8, at 5:30 p.m. Additionally, there will be water fights for local men and women in the community Sunday, Aug. 9.

The festival is scheduled for 6-11:30 p.m. Thursday and Friday, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday.

Teams try to push a barrel across the playing field during the water fights at a previous Lake Villa Days. This year, the water fights will take place at 5:30 p.m. Aug. 8 for teams from local fire departments and Aug. 9 for teams from local businesses and the community. Gilbert R.
