Giordano's coming to Schaumburg?

Giordano's Pizza is seeking a liquor license to open a restaurant just west of Woodfield Mall on Meacham Road in Schaumburg.

What that means for the White Chocolate Restaurant & Bar that currently operates out of that space at 930 N. Meacham Road is unclear.

A representative of Giordano's attended Tuesday's Schaumburg village board meeting to apply for a Class A liquor license that would allow the famous pizzeria to sell alcohol for consumption on the premises. Police will conduct a background check on the business and then the village's liquor commissioner, Mayor Al Larson, will decide whether to grant the license.

At the same time Tuesday night, three miles away, White Chocolate's parking lot was full and its staff served customers as usual. Employees said they were unaware of any imminent change for the restaurant.

Officials from Arizona-based Slatebridge Restaurant Group, which operates the White Chocolate in Schaumburg and another in Naperville, could not be reached for comment Wednesday. Representatives of Giordano's declined to comment.

Schaumburg's Economic Development Manager Matt Frank said Giordano's had been looking into a few locations in the Woodfield area. He could not say whether Tuesday's request for a liquor license at the White Chocolate building meant a final decision had been made.
