Plant and Garden Club of Wauconda awards scholarship

Submitted by Judy Belieff

The Plant and Garden Club of Wauconda has awarded a $500 scholarship to Jacklyn Lung, a 2015 graduate from Wauconda High School. She is going to Arizona State University majoring in Environmental Science.

Jacklyn has an outstanding academic record. She belonged to the Future Business Leaders of America and Operation Click and earned an All-Academic High Honor Roll. She also excelled in athletics, belonging to the Varsity Club, and was involved in soccer for four years and basketball for four years, with two years of it in being in varsity.

She has been very active in her community. She has volunteered for Meals for All, visited local elderly residences and has helped clean up seniors' yards.

The Plant and Garden Club of Wauconda offers its scholarship each spring to a Wauconda High School graduate. Money for the scholarship is earned through the club's plant sale held in May at the Cook House, located between the high school and library on Main Street.

The public is invited to attend all club meetings, lectures and workshops, which are held the fourth Monday of the month.
