Seven escape Oak Brook house fire

Seven people escaped unharmed early Thursday morning when fire swept through a large two-story house on the 100 block of Saddle Brook Road in Oak Brook.

Firefighters said they received a 911 call at 12:22 a.m. and the first units arrived four minutes later to find heavy fire showing from the second floor and roof. The blaze continued to spread rapidly through the house before firefighters brought it under control around 1:30 a.m.

Firefighters said the blaze caused more than $400,000 damage and left the house uninhabitable. The cause of the fire remains under investigation, they said.

Firefighters from Oak Brook, Downers Grove, Westmont, Elmhurst, Western Springs, Berkeley, Hinsdale, Lombard, Clarendon Hills, York Center, Oakbrook Terrace, Brookfield, Broadview, Addison and Pleasantview all were at the scene.
