Fire damages home in Lake in the Hills

No one was injured in a fire Thursday morning that damaged a home in Lake in the Hills, authorities said.

The Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Fire Protection District was dispatched at 10:20 a.m. and arrived five minutes later at 1184 Ridgewood Circle, where firefighters found a two-story home with fire and smoke visible through a window on the first floor, Battalion Chief John Knebl said in a news release.

Fire crews forced entry and declared the fire out at 10:42 a.m. The residents were not home and there were no reported injuries to firefighters or pets, Knebl said.

Crews were still on the scene past 1 p.m. investigating the cause of the fire. A damage estimate is not available yet, Knebl said.

Fire crews from Carpentersville, Crystal Lake, Fox River Grove, Huntley and Cary assisted in the call.
