Des Plaines business owner named 2015 Vetrepreneur of the Year

A Des Plaines business owner has been named the 2015 Woman Vetrepreneur of the Year by a national publication that recognizes military veterans who are successful entrepreneurs.

Kaney O'Neill, owner of ONeill Contractors, received the award from the National Veteran-Owned Business Association's magazine, Vetrepreneur. This week, she was honored with a proclamation at a Des Plaines city council meeting that recognized her as a "shining example of how the intangible skills ingrained in military training, like leadership and overcoming adversity, create the recipe for entrepreneurial success."

O'Neill suffered an injury while serving in the Navy as a seaman apprentice, but has gone on to become a successful business owner in a roofing firm, landing contracts with Boeing, the U.S. Navy and the City of Seattle, according to Vetrepreneur magazine.
