Sugar Grove Corn Boil kicks off 48th year

The Sugar Grove Corn Boil kicked off its 48th year when the carnival opened Thursday at Festival Park.

The bulk of the activities occur Friday: The carnival opens at 4 p.m. followed by the parade at 5 p.m. and the announcement of the Sugar Grove Citizen of the Year.

The band 7th Heaven kicks off the weekend of music on the SoundStage at 6 p.m. Friday and will be followed by Ethan Bell at 8 p.m. and Eric Von at 9:30 p.m. A variety of other musical acts will make appearances over the weekend.

Saturday's highlights include a 5K walk/run in the morning, the Slapshot Racing team and their Chicago Blackhawks truck in the afternoon and fireworks starting at 9:30 p.m.
