Couple say Elk Grove McDonald's gave them a dirty rag instead of a burger
A couple who eat at a McDonald's in Elk Grove Village every day say they were served a dirty rag instead of a burger, WBBM Newsradio reported Thursday.
Hans Wirth is a lung cancer patient receiving chemotherapy, and he told WBBM the McDouble is about the only thing he has an appetite for.
On Wednesday evening, Hans and his wife, Debbie, went through the drive-through at the restaurant on Biesterfield Road. The Wirths said that when they got home, they found a dirty rag in the wrapper.
Hans Wirth told WBBM a manager called him Thursday to apologize.
McDonald's released a statement Thursday evening from owner operator Rich O'Keefe, WBBM reported. "I take this matter seriously and we are currently looking into this claim," he said.
