Irish pub will open in downtown West Dundee next month

Next month, an Irish pub will occupy a downtown West Dundee storefront that has been vacant for nearly eight years.

Dooley's Irish Ale House is moving into 98 W. Main St., the location of the former M.T. Barrels Restaurant and Brewery, which closed in 2007, Village Manager Joe Cavallaro said.

Building owner Kevin Krak purchased the property earlier this year, Cavallaro said. Krak, owner of the Crystal Lake-based construction company Gallant Building Solutions, also owns the vacant building next door that formerly housed the Clearwater Theater.

“This entire block has been vacant for much too long,” Cavallaro said. “Obviously seeing a new business locating in this area is extremely exciting for downtown West Dundee.”

Dooley's has been described as a family-friendly restaurant, Cavallaro said, and it will offer a wide variety of food and drinks.

The restaurant is set to be open in August, Cavallaro said. Operators wanted to be in operation during West Dundee's annual Heritage Fest, he said, which is Sept. 18 to 20.
