See patriotic quilts at Batavia show Saturday and Sunday

Crowds were robust Friday and more of the same is expected this weekend as the Batavia Depot Museum hosts the ninth annual Quilt and Textile Show through Sunday in Batavia.

The show continues 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the Eastside Community Center and Shannon Hall, 14 N. Van Buren St.

The show has a special exhibit featuring patriotic quilts in honor of the 100th anniversary of Flag Day. A vendor hall features a variety of unique items for sale.

"The imagination and talent that goes into these quilts is really remarkable," said Carla Hill, director of the Depot Museum. "They put so much time into creating something so beautiful, and we'd love for people to come check them out!"

Quilt technique demonstrations were given Friday and will be held Saturday. Laura Wasilowski will present "I Quilt, Therefore, I Am," from 2 to 3 p.m. Sunday at Kemp Hall, 18 N. Van Buren St. The cost is $5 per person.

General admission is $6 and $5 for people 60 and older. Kids 10 and younger are admitted free. Military personnel get free admission with an I.D.
