Red Stars sell out game honoring World Cup stars

Tickets for Saturday's Chicago Red Stars game honoring its World Cup players have sold out, team officials announced Thursday.

The first-place Red Stars (6-1-3, 21 points) host the Boston Breakers (3-6-2, 11 points) in a 7:30 p.m. National Women's Soccer League contest at the Village of Lisle-Benedictine University Sports Complex in Lisle.

The Red Stars had eight team members play during the FIFA Women's World Cup, including four players on the U.S. National Team, which won the 2015 World Cup against Japan.

The team will have a postgame ceremony honoring its eight World Cup players: Julie Johnston, Christen Press, Lori Chalupny and Shannon Boxx of the U.S. National Team, as well as Canadian National Team players Karina LeBlanc, Melissa Tancredi and Adriana Leon, and New Zealand captain Abby Erceg.
