West Chicago cops recover $10,000 in stolen landscaping equipment

West Chicago police say they recovered more than $10,000 in stolen property earlier this week after arresting a juvenile on four counts of burglary and possession of cannabis.

Police said the break in the case came on July 11 when they responded to a report of a domestic incident on the 1200 block of Bishop Street. When officers arrived, they said they spoke to all the residents, including a male juvenile who was in the garage.

While in the garage. officers said they saw more than 30 pieces of high-end, commercial grade, landscaping equipment that included, chain saws, blowers, edgers and concrete saws. Officers said they also saw 15 cannabis plants growing in the juvenile's bedroom.

Police said the juvenile admitted to breaking into garages, vehicles and trailers over the past several months and then trying to sell the equipment he stole.

He was taken to the Kane County Youth Home to await a court date.

On Monday, police contacted victims who had reported burglaries over the past several months and were able to return some of the stolen property.
