Police release video, seek tips in Elgin man's shooting death

Elgin police have released video footage as part of the continuing investigation into the shooting death of a 20-year-old man.

A video posted to the Elgin Police Department's Facebook account Tuesday shows surveillance footage from the nearby area, and police are asking for information about a person who appears in the 35-second clip. The video shows someone in dark gym shorts and a gray hooded sweatshirt walking down the street carrying something in his or her hand.

Daniel Figueroa was shot to death on April 18 near Festival Park, and no one has been charged.

Detectives from the Major Investigations Division continue to investigate.

Figueroa's family is offering a $2,500 cash reward for tips leading to the arrest and prosecution of the suspect in this case.

Additionally, individuals can provide anonymous tips or information via the crime line at (847) 695-4195 or texting 847411 and including ELGINPD in the beginning of the text, along with the message and/or tip information.
