Mount Prospect Golf Club reopens Aug. 1-2

"What's old is new again" as the Mount Prospect Golf Club, 600 S. See-Gwun, Ave., reopens its doors Saturday, Aug. 1. The course was newly restored in a multimillion dollar project by Esler Golf Design. The course returns to its 1926 roots in a style of architecture that reflects golf's golden days.

Festivities begin at 9:30 a.m. Saturday as Greg Kuhs, Mount Prospect Park District executive director, opens the doors leading to the redesigned course. A shotgun start begins promptly at 10 a.m. The foursome fee of $500 includes 18 hole greens fees with cart, commemorative golf shirt with new course logo and a steak dinner following play.

The celebration continues Sunday, Aug. 2, with a 9 a.m. shotgun start. The foursome fee of $320 includes 18 hole greens fees with cart and a souvenir hat with new course logo.

Phone/walk-in reservations at the golf course will be accepted for Mount Prospect Park District residents on a first-come, first-served basis beginning Friday, July 17, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Reservations for nonresidents will begin Monday, July 20, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Call (847) 259-4200 for phone registration.

Celebrate Family Night at the course from 5:30-8 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 9. No reservations are needed, but children must be accompanied by an adult. Shoot a free bucket of balls, play mini golf on the putting green while enjoying ice cream, popcorn and prizes.
