Why focus on a flag and ignore guns?

So, please help me to understand something. A young boy goes into a church in South Carolina armed with a gun and the intent of killing people. He sits through a Bible study with a group of African American men and women and after an hour of their hospitality, he shoots nine people to death.

He leaves the church and is found later by the police and we hear about this atrocity through the news media and are shown various pictures of this young man holding a gun and a Confederate flag. In one photo he is burning the American flag, a great visual for stirring up the public ire.

Within a very short time, the citizenry demands that the collective "we" take down the offensive Confederate flag. War-Mart, Amazon, Sears and Target announce that they will not be selling Confederate merchandise any longer. Problem solved?

Really? Seriously? This angry young man killed nine people with a gun. Where is the outrage about the hardware used to commit murder? Where is the report about what will be done to stem this type of violence? How soon will it take to again ask the citizenry about what they want done regarding gun control?
