New restaurant moving into Buffalo Grove Winberie's location

Work is underway on a new restaurant, to be called Countyline Tavern, that will open later this summer in the former home of longtime Buffalo Grove dining staple Winberie's Restaurant & Bar.

Cleveland-based Select Restaurants Inc. said major interior and exterior renovations are taking place at the restaurant site, 800 W. Lake-Cook Road. An opening date has not been set, however.

According to its website, Countyline Tavern will feature "craft American fare and shareable plates," along with a "hearty selection of unique brews."

Winberie's, a fixture on the Buffalo Grove dining scene for nearly 30 years, closed its doors at the end of October. At the time, a Select Restaurants official said the decision to close the restaurant came after "a lot of research."

Anyone interesting in following the progress of construction of the new restaurant or learning about its hiring plans can visit its website, countylinetavern.com, or follow it on Facebook and Twitter.
