Cat saved from Rolling Meadows house fire

Rolling Meadows firefighters extinguished a kitchen fire and rescued a cat from inside a single-family home on the 3700 block of Wilke Road within 10 minutes of their arrival late Friday morning.

There were no injuries and no discernible exterior damage to the house, Rolling Meadows Battalion Chief Jeff Moxley said.

The call came in at 11:35 a.m., and firefighters from the Palatine, Palatine Rural and Arlington Heights departments also responded, Moxley added.

The cause of the fire remained under investigation Friday afternoon, but certainly began in the kitchen, he said.

The house was not immediately habitable due to the emergency shut off of utilities as well as the minor smoke damage to the kitchen.
