Wheaton celebrates 'Musical Mondays'

Wheaton Park District's "Music Mondays" free outdoor concert series starts Monday, July 6, and continues through the month.

Concerts start at 6:30 p.m. at Memorial Park, 208 W. Union St. Each week features a different music genre.

The series begins July 6 with WDCB-FM sponsoring the soulful jazz styling of Roy McGrath and the Latin Jazz Quintet. With a master's degree in music from Northwestern University, McGrath has traveled the globe perfecting the art of jazz.

On July 13, fans can take a guided musical tour through rock 'n' roll history with The Neverly Brothers. Playing classics from Elvis to The Beatles, the Neverly Brothers guarantee a night of singing, dancing and lively entertainment.

The fun continues with The Niche on July 20, performing British and American hits from the '60s. The Niche keeps the audience on their toes by mixing up the set list with occasional '70s and '80s favorites, and throwing in a few "B" sides to keep fans guessing.

The concert series will end July 27 with blues musician Brother John Kattke. Brother John has been a resident musician at Buddy Guy's Legends in Chicago for 25 years, and has played with Eric Clapton, Steve Miller, and the Black Crowes.
