Meeting Room Reservations Open July 15

As of July 15, cardholders at the Northbrook Public Library will have the opportunity to book the Library's meeting rooms for use as early as September 1.

Since the renovations were completed in the spring, Library staff have participated in numerous rounds of training to ensure familiarity with the meeting rooms and their specific space requirements and available technology. While Library-sponsored programming returned to the first floor of the Library on May 1, community organizations seeking to use the Library's meeting rooms for their own purposes will have their chance in the fall.

"It was our design to reintroduce programming slowly and deliberately, to make certain that [staff] are fully comfortable with [the meeting rooms] and the equipment involved," said Assistant Director Andrew Kim. "We want the process to be as streamlined as possible."

The Library offers two meeting rooms for reservation: the Pollak Room and the Civic Room. The Pollak room is a multifunctional space that can seat up to 100 people, or can be split into two 50-person rooms. The Civic Room has an 80" LCD monitor and spacious conference table available for use, and can fit up to 40 people. Those seeking rooms for smaller groups can utilize one of the Library's five study rooms, which seat between four and six people. Study rooms may be reserved up to a week in advance, either in person or by phone.

There is no fee to reserve a meeting room at the Library. Reservations for the Pollak Room or Civic Room must be completed by a Northbrook resident 18 years or older with a valid Northbrook Public Library Card in good standing. Businesses and companies within the incorporated area of Northbrook may be issued a free Northbrook Library card, which grants them equal opportunity to make use of the Library's meeting rooms. Businesses in unincorporated Northbrook may purchase a library card.

The Library is confident that the new meeting rooms will provide a valuable resource to Northbrook residents. For more information on reserving a meeting room or to view the new reservation policy in full, visit www.northbrook.info/about/rooms or email meetingrooms@northbrook.info.
