District should expand on Tefft's successes

Thank you so much for the great story on Tefft Middle School and more importantly the recognition to Principle Lavonne Smiley and her staff. Having lived near Tefft and having five children attend it and seeing the transitions it has undergone from 1968 until now is breathtaking.

From great to awful to great again is simply hard to believe. With all that said, it is the simple solutions that work best. Personal responsibility, both of students and parents, discipline and a team committed to the same outcome.

These children will have a chance in life in a very competitive world.

My only hope now is that the U-46 board and administration finally begin to adopt these same principles in the rest of the district to give those students the same opportunity for success.

I am hopeful that with current new board, they can be implemented, and more importantly adhered to. It has been way to long that the successes at Tefft have not been used as a beacon of hope for other schools in U-46.
