Riviera owners group comes to St. Charles

The Riviera Owners Association will hold its 2015 International Meet at Pheasant Run Resort June 30-July 3.

Formed in 1984, the ROA is an international nonprofit organization that is dedicated to the preservation, restoration, and promotion of the Buick Riviera.

Early registration for participants will take place from 3 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 30. The group will be visiting the Volo Auto Museum and Chicago's Navy Pier on Wednesday and Thursday, respectively. A more detailed event itinerary can be found on the ROA website, www.rivowners.org.

Weather permitting, the ROA car show will take place on the grass at Pheasant Run Resort during the last day of the International Meet, Friday, July 3. The event, which is free and open to the public, will run from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

In total, the event will consume an estimated 364 guest rooms throughout the week with 180 members from around the country attending. Local visitor bureau officials predict that the ROA International Meet will bring in approximately $190,736 of potential direct spending to the Greater St. Charles area.

This is the third time that the ROA has held its annual International Meet in the state of Illinois; Lisle in 1995 and Galena in 2008 were both previous hosts. The 2014 event was held in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

The Greater St. Charles Convention & Visitors Bureau has maintained a relationship with the ROA since 2010 and has provided several complimentary services for this event; they have included assistance with off-site activities, creation of event fliers and provision of dining options.

The STCVB is funded by the Illinois Office of Tourism and a portion of the hotel/motel tax collected by St. Charles hotels to promote Greater St. Charles as a destination for leisure tourists, meetings, conventions, sports events and motor coach trips.
