Palatine Park District presents free Friday concerts

As part of the free Sounds of Summer concert series, Palatine Park District presents the Friday Family Picnic Series. Three free concerts will be offered throughout the summer at Towne Square, 150 W. Palatine Road, Palatine, starting at noon.

On Friday, June 26, the concert will feature Istvan and His Imaginary Band. When Istvan starts rocking, kids can't help but join in, sometimes on stage. Istvan offers a mix of interactive rock 'n' roll, country, pop punk and sing-alongs.

The Barefoot Hawaiians return to Palatine Friday, July 17. For more than 30 years this authentic Polynesian style performing troupe has thrilled audiences with their dances, drumming, vibrant costumes and props, and informative displays of the customs of the islands.

On Friday, Aug. 7, Mr. Myers will take the stage featuring a blend of the tropical sounds of soca and calypsowith the rhythms of reggae and ska, along with remakes of your favorite rock 'n roll and R&B classics.

This series of free family concerts is presented by AMITA Health. All performances begin at noon and last approximately one hour. There are no restroom facilities at Towne Square. For weather cancellations, call (847) 705-5123, ext. 431.
